Our Objectives

 

  • Investigate and compare student teacher perspectives, teaching staff perspectives, and institutional goals with regard to Initial Teacher Preparation (ITP) programmes.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how pre-service teachers’ prior attitudes, beliefs and values were engaged during their ITP experience, and the impact of those engagements on participants’ teacher identity, at the ITP entry and exit points.
  • Examine the effectiveness of mentoring programmes and the factors that lead to positive impact on Beginning Teachers (BTs) and their professional practices.
  • Identify major factors affecting teachers’ professional identity, competence and commitment.
  • Investigate factors that will develop and retain teachers career-long.
  • Understand fluctuations in teachers’ professional identity, competence and commitment over time.
